Jeremy Phipps and the Outsiders
Jeremy "Mojo" Phipps is an 18 year old self-taught trombone player from uptown New Orleans. Mojo prides himself as being one of the only trombone "entertainers" in the country. Even at a young age Mojo has done things other performers would dream of such as perform on BET's 12 week series "One Night Only", So You Think You Can Dance, and at Denver's Red Rock Amphitheatre. Mojo's dream is to use his unique style to take the trombone to places it's never been taken before in entertainment, following behind the footsteps of Louis Armstrong and Trombone Shorty. He's already rocked crowds with rappers, such as being featured with rapper Dee-1 at Jazz Fest 2010. Singers, such as Maddie Ruthless, at various different spots around the city.Brass bands, such as Soul Rebels brass band, Rebirth Brass Band, and Hot 8 Brass Band.And other artists such as Galactic, Trombone Shorty, Shamarr Allen, Kermit Ruffins, and Nasimiyu. His current project, Jeremy Phipps and the Outsiders, is an avenue for Mojo to showcase his master skills as an entertainer, songwriter, trombone player, and vocalist. He also serves as the band's manager, booking agent, and musical director. The Outsiders include Josh Crist on the drumset, John Perkins on the trumpet, Cameron Johnson on the saxophone, Casey Contreary on guitar, and Will Jordan on bass. They are key members in the development of a new genre called New Orleans Brass Funk Rock. The Outsiders have knocked out crowds all around the New Orleans club scene and played various different festivals and parties. The Outsiders have grown an outstanding reputation for putting on a high energy action-packed dance party with every performance.
