Switzerland's most popular Big BandThe reputation of Toni's Big Band started nearly 20 years ago. Over the years the band played in large Swiss festivals (International Montreaux Jazz Festival, Jazz Parade Fribourg, Lenk Festival), in famous clubs (Chrous, Mahogany...) and for many other events. Hence, Toni's Big Band has wowed audiences around the world. The band's leader, Samuel Zingg, is a teacher at the Swiss jazz school in Bern, and the band has produced a pair of CDs, -- Swing, Swing, Swing in 1992 and Basic and Tonic in 1997. Basic and Tonic features the stunning vocals of Christine Aebischer. The band performs many old Count Basie standards, but also performs pieces from modern masters like Quincy Jones. The band is comprised of 20 musicians and one singer -- Maryline. Toni's Big Band is clearly the most popular big band in Switzerland.. |
