Irish-American Celtic Rock based
music
The Young Dubliners, or "Young Dubs" as they are known to their fans,
are set to play further shows with Jethro Tull during the second and third
legs of the US tour schedule this summer. Their new album "Red" is now
released and in the shops, featuring many of the songs from their show
including the Bernie Taupin penned title track. The group hail from Southern
California where they have built a substantial following in their few
years together, selling out thirty consecutive shows at L.A.'s House of
Blues on Sunset Blvd. with their Irish-American Celtic rock-based music.
The two Irishmen amongst the band are Keith and Brendan, ex-pats who put
the "Dubliners" into the name. The other guys in the band tell us that
they put the "young". An advance copy of the new album was sent to me
a few months ago and, along with the dozen or so records which I listen
to each week from aspiring support bands, received a dutiful listen between
my promo trips for SLOB. A quick thumbs-up was communicated to our L.A.
agents and a few shows were scheduled to see if the musical and personal
chemistry would be mutually beneficial. You see, there is no point in
an opening act being tied up with a lengthy tour commitment when there
is little chance of winning over some of the audience for the headline
act and building some record sales and future concert ticket sales from
the experience.
