Large crowds make cajun bluesman
"Homesick for the Road"Tab Benoit is on a roll. In 1999 he released not one, but two albums: "These Blues Are All Mine," in the Fall and "Homesick for the Road" in the Spring. Says Guitar Player: "With a tone as thick as gumbo and licks as fiery as a tablespoon of cayenne pepper ... Tab Benoit may be the hottest thing to come out of Louiasiana since Chef Paul Prudhomme." Benoit is enlfunced by guitar greats Buddy Guy and Albert King, and exudes intensity on-stage. In addition to his recording and show work, Benoit has had his songs played on prime-time television shows such as "Northern Exposeure," "Melrose Place," "Party of Five," and he has performed on camera on "Baywatch." Tab has taken his music to heart, maintaining his blues roots while hitting the road -- hard. For the past several years he's been performing his own brand of cajun rock 'n blues, night after night, while watching the size of his audience steadily increase. This grueling tour schedule has paid off, as he now plays for standing room only crowds across the country, from major music cities to small town blues bars. He was born in Baton Rouge in November 1967 and raised in the oil and fishing town of Houma (where he lives to this day). |
