A special two-night engagementy
with Allstars
Tipitinas proudly presents a special two night engagement with the
NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS, December 27 and 28 at 10:30 PM. Forging a unique
musical career, brothers Luther and Cody Dickinson consistently push the
boundaries of roots music traditions while combining them with modern elements.
Their father, legendary producer Jim Dickinson exposed them to a wide range
of influences throughout their lives. Their career began with punk outfit
D.D.T., they subsequently toured in the bands of delta blues legends T Model
Ford and RL Burnside, then recorded with fife and drum wizard Othar Turner,
and most recently formed a super-group around pedal steel prodigy Robert
Randolph as The Word (with John Medeski producing and playing keyboards).
In between, Luther and Cody formed the North Mississippi Allstars in 1996
with bassist Chris Chew. NMAS have recorded 2 fine albums Shake Hands with
Shorty (Uni/Tone) in 2000 and their newest effort 51 Phantom (Tone Cool)
in 2001. Their live shows combine down home Mississippi blues and rocking
improvisation anchored by Codys drums, Chews bass and driving
Luthers melodic voice and deft slide guitar. |
