An artist in the making
When it comes to bluesmen who have lived the life, there is no one
in New Orleans like Little Freddie King. His career has been filled with
all the pitfalls and tribulations that mark a true blues artist. He doesn't
come from the new school or the old school as much as he comes from the
school of hard knocks. His body is allegedly covered in wounds from the
five times that he has supposedly been shot. Further, King has never been
able to make music a full-time career and eeks out a living working as a
mechanic with the occasional gig in between. But, if the old saying is true,
he sure has paid his dues, and when he hits the stage, his music is as real
as can be. This Jazz Fest gig should prove no different. Little Freddie
King plays like his idols name, Albert King and B.B. King. ~
