Guster
Tipitina's Artist A perfect pop music with monstrous sounds and infectious melodies

Guster makes music using guitars, voices, and hand percussion--or as producer, Steve Lillywhite likes to call it "two rubber bands and a bar of soap." On the new record, Lost and Gone Forever, the trio of college friends took their sparse instrumentation to the next level. They twanged and scrubbed until they found the perfect pop music, filled with monstrous sounds and infectious melodies. Like their signature live show, Lost and Gone Forever leaves the listener hooked and perplexed. --how does Guster get those instruments to sound like that? Why doesn't the drummer use a pair of sticks? Composing the 11 new songs in their Boston living room, Ryan, Adam, and Brian embraced their seemingly rhythm-sectionless line-up. The band tiptoed through sonic arrangements as deftly as they maneuver rehearsals around the work schedules of their patient neighbors. Indeed, making it work The Guster Way has been a way of life since day one. Lost and Gone Forever showcases a young band that is confident in its place, yet giddy and wired from a career path where hard work has met with results.
