Eddie Bo

Eddie Bo Eddie Bo was born Edwin Joseph Bocage in the 9th Ward of New Orleans. Eddie's recording career can only be called prolific. He has made 66 records since 1955, more than any other artist in New Orleans other than fellow 9th Ward resident, Fats Domino. He has produced records for Irma Thomas, Robert Parker, Art Neville, Chris Kenner, Al "Carnival Time" Johnson and Johnny Adams.

Eddie is a virtuoso pianist who is adept in jazz, blues, funk, fusion, and New Orleans rhythm. He is the last of the era of New Orleans piano players who exemplify the "junker style".

Bo may be best known for his 1961 hit "Check Mr. Popeye", but his music is still relevant today. In 1999, he performed at the Fourth of July Concert at the Washington Monument where an estimated 500,000 people were in attendance.
