Drums and Tuba started in 1994 and since then played several shows in a wide range of venues. They started playing on the streets in Austin, Texas and worked their way through coffee houses, rock clubs, and hockey arenas. Drums and Tuba had showed that they could play in front of virtually any kind of audience. The bands include: Brave Combo, June of 44, Michael Ray (of the Sun Ra Orchestra), The Rebirth Brass Band, Lump, Rex, Trans Am, Galactic, The Spaceheads, Leftover Salmon, The Archers of Loaf, Modest Mouse, Daniel Johnston, The Dirty Three, Uze Jsme Doma and two tours with Ani DiFranco.( spring 1999 "That's Right" Tour and fall 1998 ..there's where the hockey arenas come in). After spending the last few years spread out across the country (Austin, Chicago, and New York City), which made playing and touring more difficult, Drums and Tuba have relocated to New York City where they are playing frequently, including a regular Friday-night spot at the Knitting Factory Tap Bar. If you're a fan of the tuba (and who isn't?), you're guaranteed to love Drums and Tuba.Else if you're not a tuba fan, there are enough all-around great musical influences at work here to satisfy even the most jaded music listener.
