everybody get "fonky" in an Uptown kind of wayThe Uptown Allstars are, at once, The World's Only Secondline Reggae Band, The Keepers of the Uptown Fonk (Funk) and the continuation of the Uptown Allstar Concept! Withe the allstars, Cyril Neville has re-defined the Uptown sound. What emerged from a "laboratory" named Benny's Bar in uptown New Orleans was a combining of the reshaped sound of the streets of New Orleans and the sounds from the back-ways of Jamaica: "Secondline Reggae!" The band is comprised of Cyril Neville, Nick Daniels III, "Mean" Willie Green, Brian "Breeze" Cayolle, George Rossi, and Charles Moore. |
