New CD pays homage to soul-jazz
era of 1960s, 1970s
A New Orleans native, Brian "Breeze" Cayolle has played
with everyone in New Orleans from Ernie-K-Doe to Cyril Neville, who he currently
performs with as both a baritone and tenor saxophonist. But Breeze has his
own talented band, the French Quarter Allstars, and has recently cut a solo
album entitled Soul Time, which pays homage to the soul-jazz era
of the 1960s and early 1970s. From Gene Ammons to King Curtis, Breeze encompasses
the skill and emotion of his saxophone heroes and uses their influences
to interpret the classic songs of Curtis Mayfield, Jimi Hendrix, Rufus,
featuring Chaka Khan, and Van Morrison. Breeze has played all over the world
and has opened for the likes of Roy Buchanan, Leon Russell, and Stevie Ray
Vaughn, and has jammed on stage with such notables as Greg Allman. |
